With the increasing popularity of Chaos decks, the proven competitiveness of Agents and the undying Plant Synchro, and the potential of Dark Worlds yet to be tapped into.. it is clear that special summoning is key to these builds success (among other factors of course). With that in mind, you can further the development, and future success of builds like Frog Emperors when taking on more of an anti-meta aspect to your build.
VANITY FIEND!!
This is Frog Emperors version of Kristya/Dyna. Against the more popular decks in the highest competitive scene:
Agents/Plants/Karakuri/Dark World: NO SYNCHRO SPAM, NO XYZ, No Hyperion, No Trishula, No BLS, NOO Special Summon PEROID!
This, of course, require protection. However, the benefit Frog Emperors have is constant advantage and main decked defense as stated in a previous post. With Tour Guides added, you could also take advantage of Wind-Up Zenmaines, who is a beefier version of Gachi Gachi.
This added protection will prove as a fantastic stall requiring your opponent waste more resources, only to stare down more defense, found in Gachi Gachi, Caius, Gorz, LaDD etc. Here's a possible build post next set I would like for people to try out:
3 Caius the Shadow Monarch
2 Raiza the Storm Monarch
2 Vanity's Fiend
3 Tour Guide From the Underworld
2 Battle Fader
3 Swap Frog
3 Dupe Frog
2 Treeborn Frog
2 Light and Darkness Dragon
1 Dark Dust Spirit
1 Ronintoadin
1 Sangan
1 Gorz the Emissary of Darkness
1 Tragoedia
3 Enemy Controller
3 Mystical Space Typhoon
2 Soul Exchange
1 Foolish Burial
1 Dark Hole
1 Heavy Storm
1 Monster Reborn
1 Pot of Avraice
3 Gachi Gachi Gantetsu
1 Number 17: Leviathan Dragon
1 Wind-Up Zenmaines
2 Leviar the Sea Dragon
1 Formula Synchron
1 Stardust Dragon
1 Scrap Dragon
1 Colossal Fighter
1 Ally of Justice Catastor
1 Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier
1 Black Rose Dragon
1 Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier
Obviously, Vanity's Fiend will prevent your own special summoning as well. As you can see, however, the deck is designed to give your opponent the biggest headache! Enjoy

YCS Columbus: Billy Brake Back 2 Back Champ!
LFN YGO
Since LFN has already broken down YCS Columbus, I would just like to further promote the hard work dedicated in doing so by re-posting this blog. This article is very detailed and well thought out holding plenty of valuable information regarding this event, as well as this formats current meta in the TCG.

With that said, congrats to Billy Brake with his second consecutive win! Plant Synchro is clearly still a very competitive deck. You can easily find his deck online, and youtube. He strayed very little from his previous build in Toronto. Taking into consideration the hype behind Dark World, as well as the still powerful Agents, he tweaked his deck accordingly..
Effect Veiler has very little effect against Dark World. The main targets one would veil will most likely be a Tour Guide, or Fabled Raven. Main decking only one Veiler allowed more room in the main, while minimizing it as a dead draw against Dark World first round. Brake did, however, max on Max C. This is a very powerful tech choice in this particular YCS. If you take into consideration the more popular decks one would expect to see at such a high level of competition: Agents, Plant Synchro, Dark World, you will realize one could truly benefit with Max C main decked to gain advantage from an opponents special summoning and/or even prevent the opponent from doing so! Imagine a typical Venus play.. Summon 2nd Shine Ball, chain Max C and draw 1. Your opponent now has to consider going for Gachi Gachi, or even synchroing (depending if the opponent is running TG/Birdman) just so you can't gain as many pluses as you can!
Brake also opted to remove Call of the Haunted, and play a 2nd Caius. Removing cards from play is a very powerful effect, adding another dark target in his grave for Envoy, at the same time as taking away a dark or possible threat/defense from the opponents field.
Billy Brake deserves this second win, with nearly the same deck no less.. This dude has been playing since he was 12 and can truly be called a champ. Congrats bro!

Deck Discussion: Frog Emperors pt. 1
Frog Emperors have always been consistent, generating advantage yet seldom seen at higher competitive tournaments. Monarchs provide great advantage through their specific effects at the cost of a tribute. Caius and Raiza have consistently proven themselves to be staple Monarchs, almost always main deck at maximum. Light and Darkness Dragon have also proven to be a worthy "Boss Monster" in such builds, as this behemoth ensures the opponent to properly play against if s/he doesn't want to waste more resources than required. Even after this monster is destroyed, another one will take it's place. Of course, with proper grave set up, this can range anywhere from a Dupe Frog/Swap Frog or another boss ie: Gorz the Emissary of Darkness or any monarch.
The key to bringing out these monarchs are the "frog engine", consisting mainly of Treeborn Frog, Swap Frog, Ronintodin, and (preference of the pilot) Dupe Frog. This engine allows for quick deck thinning, allowing the pilot to get to these the boss monsters/defensive lineup faster. With the release of Gachi Gachi Gantetsu, this deck can easly stall if needed. It's imperative for the opponent to stop, or hinder these plays and allow for grave setup. Failure to do so, will allow the pilot to generate advantage via Treeborn and Monarchs.
Frog Emperors also make use of defense in the form of monsters. Gorz the Emissary of Darkness is a popular choice for obvious reasons (see below). Battle Fader will not only prevent OTK, but it can and most likely will be tributed for another monarch. Tragoedia is a beast, not only preventing OTK, but can be a BOSS itself with a high hand count. It also allows for more synchro/exceed options with it's effect to change it's level. It is negligible to forget it's ability to steal an opponents monster as well in/against the proper decks.
This deck, however, doesn't solely rely on it's generally high monster count..
Frog Emperors almost has 0 reliance on backrow, yet they run a defensive lineup through spells. Not only do they run "staples", but can easily use cards such as Enemy Controller, and Soul Exchange to remove opposing threats. With Heavy Storm back in the game, complimented with 3 Mystical Space Typhoon, Frog Monarchs do NOT fear backrow as much as other decks would.
Please stay tuned, as part 2 of this discussion will discuss the evolution of monarchs, and why I believe they can make a huge impact at higher levels of competition.

Well Hello
Hey, guys. This is my first official blog, so please bare with me as I try to portray/share my thoughts via this page. The goal is to teach those who are new or less knowledgeable of Yu-Gi-Oh! the different aspects/decks/tips etc of the current meta. There will also be a look into the future, regarding upcoming cards/decks. I will also soon be adding youtube videos to compliment the blogs I will be sharing. Clearly, I am not the first, nor will I be the last to blog about his/her ideas, but I will be sharing (with those who care to listen) my ideas and thoughts on the TCG and OCG world of Yu-Gi-Oh! Thanks for reading guys, and I hope you continue to do so.
